Famed race car driver and driving expert Bobby Unser visited and drove the track and said he believes the 1.3 mile Mako Circuit to be the smoothest surface, technically best designed and most rhythmic tracks in North America. In November 2007 The Speedway Drivers Search tested 30 new indycar drivers in Indycars on the Mako Circuit for the reality TV show 'The Speedway Drivers Search' 'The Rookie' and agreed with Unser.

Tiger Circuit and Eighth mile DragStrip

As well construction has started on the 1 mile Tiger Circuit and one eight mile drag strip. You can see the beginnings of the Tiger Circuit in this aerial photo! Its very fast and fun!

The final track will be able to be divided into two different tracks with their own hot pits that can be run independently in either direction with a common paved paddock area. With the added cross roads GrandSport Speedway will then have available 8 different configurations available to keep you interested every time you come to see us. Yes and we did mention the one eight mile drag strip!

The heated/airconditioned classroom and rest rooms are available to our renters. A covered paddock area will soon be erected!

Sun protection
We have acquired a covered paddock structure to keep you and your car out of the hot Texas sun. We should have it up and useable by mid may!

The Kart Track
We have two variations for running Karts using areas on the Mako Circuit. Right now we have Kart Racing at GrandSport has a resident Kart school to go along with Racing Adventures and their on-site car racing and teenage driving schools!

Lights! Control and Safety
When corner workers are not present for the smaller club and school programs our safety lights at each corner station will help control the track. There is be red, yellow and green strobe lights at each station that will be centrally controlled. This will allow greater control and safety at those far ends of the track.

Walls
Zooming off the track onto a grass field is preferable to smacking your car into a wall. The track is designed to prevent vehicle damage. We have only one wall on pit lane. Use of gravel traps and other less destructive safety devices to keep you and your car safe are on the top of our list.

Track Manager
There will be a GrandSport safety manager at every event. In addition to being a part of the EMT crew, track on and off supervisor and operating the safety lights this person will assist in the running of you event to ensure its run smooth and safe.
